Adiyogi
Introduction
Adiyogi is the first Yogi, and he taught his students to do the same.
Adiyogi’s Position As A Teacher of Life
You are the first Yogi.
You have been called the Adiyogi by your teacher, because you were able to do what he could not.
Adiyogi May Have Been Shiva
You might be wondering why this is important. Why would it matter if Adiyogi was Shiva? Well, for starters, it means that we can now make some sense of the different types of yogis we see in India and elsewhere around the world.
Adiyogi is known as “the first Yogi” because he was first to teach people how to meditate and live peacefully with themselves. He was also thought to be a swan (hence his name!) because he had long hair and feathers on his head like a swan does! It’s no wonder then that when you think about what kind of person would start out teaching people such practices before there were even any books written down by other masters like Sankara or Patanjali—it makes perfect sense that they’d end up being called “Adiyogis.”
Adiyogi is the first Yogi, and he taught his students to do the same.
Adiyogi is the first Yogi, and he taught his students to do the same. He was Shiva, or the god of destruction and creation. Adiyogi had many disciples who became famous in their own right: Bhrigu, Matsya (the fish), Kapila (the cow), Andhakasur (a demon king), Vamadeva (a demon called “The King Of Demons”), Varuna (god of rainwater) and Parbhaumakara (a bird).
When you meditate on Adiyogi you can learn how to control your mind so that it doesn’t get carried away by thoughts or emotions from outside sources. It will help you gain more self-control over what happens inside your head!
